Hi kmd
Def of IP: it is a generic tool for planning the organization business. it follows 3 approaches for planning , 1. TOP-DOWN APPROACH 2.MIXED APPROACH 3. BOTTOM UP APPROACH.
Planning are of 3 types , strategic plan , operational plan , executional plan.
SCENERIO IS : CLIENT HAD THEIR REVENUE IN THIS YEAR 3000B$ , SO WAT HE PLAN TO REACH REVENUE WITH 30 % INCREASE IN NEXT QUARTER OR NEXT YEAR.
so wat we have to do is we need to load required data to real time cube. u know why we r using the real time cubes , it supports we can write or read data in cube. it contains plan data & actual data.
after loading data to cube we goto tran RSPLAN . here is environment to to all these things to plan the business as per requirement.
In BI , why it is called Integrated Planning , becoz the Planning Engine & Analytical Engine integrated with BI server. so we called IP.here we cannot create any layouts for planning. here these can communicate with each other.
In BW , where as in BPS , Planning Engine & Analytical Engine are two separate components in BW server, so these cannot communicate with each other. for communicating we used layouts in BPS for planning .
This is the main difference IP and BPS
