Hierarchy Data Load Issue

Hi All,

At the time when i was loading data from source to BI for Hierarchy one of the data packet having invaid character

Error - The node name for ID 00000217 contains invalid characters

In case of PSA we can edit that record and load it again to target but we are loading hierarchy we asre doing it using IDOC ALE.

We already set Infopackage with following selection -

Under processing tab we selected  - ALE inbox and infoobject.

Under update tab - Full load.

As this IP is part of process chain so that chain also got failed due to invalid char issue.

Can any one tell how to correct those invalid char and load it again to target as i am not able to see any PSA type of thing for correcting invalid chars.

Hi,

One way to correct the invalid character as discussed above is in ECC by understanding the pattern.

Another way would be to apply a formula in the transformation at the field level which will checl all invalid characters ( including lower/upeer case issue, special characters) etc. This will reislve your issue and PC will not fail then again.

Hi Ankit,

     Try this one to resolve your issue.

     go to RSA3 (in source system)-->enter datasource name of hierarchy --> enter hierarchy name (HIENM) for which you are getting an error and press extraction

after that go to alv grid to display data and select hierarchy node in segment

filter the data by ID for which you are getting error like 205, 206 etc. and check that node contains invalid text or not. if it contain invalid text then you can allow those char in RSKC.

Hi Ankit,

Please first find the record which have invalid character. once you know invalid record combination information, thru that you can edit the  record in ecc itself with help respective module team and try to load again.

Please check node name for this  - ID 00000217 in hier str

I can see only data package in red with id.

Any way to check in bi. Or is it only possible in ecc if yes then how

Hi Ankit,

If the error record is in DTP load, then you can create error stack and check for the error records. Attched is the screenshot(if you may able to see it) or else in the DTP -> update tab -> error handling - > creating Error DTPs

Sorry i forget to tell about our current system we are using BW 3.5 so DTP is not present.

and for above scnerio we are using ALE so PSA is also not present

hi ankit,

screen is not clear to see.please check data in the info object which you defiend as node in your hier structure, its have invalid character.

as my guess your node will be 0COSTELEMNT, check the node name for id 00000217. its have invalid char in that. once you find, take ecc help and edit in ecc. reload into bw.

Please check at RSA3 also in ecc side. you may find erronoes record.

Hi Raman,

Please share how to check error record in Hierarchy.

I went into infoobject and saw three tables when i am passing node ID into them but its not showing any error records only 2-3 lines are coming.

/BIC/HZCOSTELMT Hierarchy table

/BIC/KZCOSTELMT SID table

/BIC/IZCOSTELMT

Please let me know steps to check error records by example.

Hi Ankit,

Data was not loaded to target. so you won't see error records in object level. by seeing error log details you may be know the ZCOSTLEMT(value) for Id000000217. once you got the ZCOSTELMT, at ecc side, give the data source name and run it selectively by giving zcostelmt check the data for that reocrd.

if you won't error there, pass the same zcostelmt value to respective module team and ask them to check name.

Please share the visible error log screen.

So you mean to say we cannot check error records in BW if yes then how can i identify what are the error records in ECC.

As ZCOSTELMT is infoobject and i dont know how to check node name for ID 000000217 in BW as well as in R3.

Or in other words how to check node name for ID 000000217 ?

Hi Ankit,

The ZCOSTELMT contains invalid character for nodes id 0000217,00000216 and 0000215. your having 1203 records. so please extract at RSA3 in ecc into excel and check the records which have invalid character.

Ex: like '-', lower case letters,'/' etc....

please share the error screen which have the full message.

The node name for ID 00000217 have invalid characters xxxx something missing here. try to share long text details of that error. then only easy to suggest which error you need check. if you any dump, please share it.
