HANA runtime editions

What are SAP HANA  limited runtime editions:

- SAP HANA, Limited Runtime edition for Applications

- SAP HANA, Limited Runtime edition for Applications-User

- SAP HANA, Limited Runtime edition for Applications and SAP BW

How do they differ from (PLATFORM,ENTERPRISE and EXTENDED ENTERPRISE editions)

The primary difference between the "Limited Runtime Editions" are that the HANA license is limited to the application it is licensed for. Meaning, BW, Suite, or HANA App. It's not there to custom build data marts...

The platform and enterprise licenses are full use licenses (can be used for anything - including custom build of applications).

Does this mean that on Limited Edition I can't run custom Business Object Dashboard reports ?

With the runtime, you can consume from any BI tool that is supported, including BusinessObjects...

You just can't custom build within HANA.

Can you please provide more information about SMBV. What is means and what is its repercussion on thei mplementation of SAP Business Suite,  BW on HANA.

We are having a client who has acquired SAP HANA SMBV licence and would like to know what is its impact on our solutioning.

I'm trying to find a clear definition of "HANA Limited Runtime edition for Applications & BW" (LREAB). I would like to know exactly the limitation concerning custom development. Example, are we authorized to extend standard applications for which we own the corresponding licenses?

To be even more precise, can we create custom calculation view, procedure, oData service,…as long as it is based on business suite application data model ?

Looking at “HANA Live” implementation guide (that is part of LREAB license), it says that the first thing to do is to copy the SAP Standard delivery into a customer package. That’s why I do not understand how to implement “HANA Live” if we are not authorized to perform any custom development at all. Regards,

Just to add to this comment.  The SAP Software Use (attached) manual contains the following clause under the section for SAP HANA DB Edition for SAP Netweaver BW:

"Use of the SAP HANA Studio component is limited solely to the administering, monitoring and creating custom views for the SAP BW instance. All reporting must be performed via the SAP BW software or via custom views created using HANA Studio. Such custom views may be access via SAP or non-SAP BI tools."

My reading of this clause leads me to the conclusion that you may create your own custom analytical and/or calculation views on the BW Database tables and use non-SAP BI tools to consume these views.  However, please defer to your SAP account executive for formal clarification on specific software use under your license agreement.
