Hi Friends,

We have two hana systems on one server this Hana system is running on ECC.

As we want to have dedicated server we are looking to migrate one Hana system to another server, please can anyone let me know how much time it will take and we are looking to migrate only one system. Also during the migration do I need to bring down another hana server down as it is under /hana/shared folder.

Thankyou very much. Please kindly reply.

Regards

aarya

HI Aarya

I understand you have a single server hosting two SAP HANA instances (running ECC), generally referenced as an MCOS or multi-SID deployment, as documented

The project is to migrate one SID to another server.

How long does it take?

It depends. Roughly, about the time it takes to move the data over but using SAP HANA system replication (HSR) or tools like SAP Landscape Management (LaMa) this could be achieved with near-zero down-time. This would not impact the other server.

On the migration topic, see

Although archived as they reference a no longer supported release, for the SAP HANA academy we recorded a video tutorial series about HSR, which still should provide a good introduction to the topic

For the documentation, see

Hi aarya,

you can use different approaches which best fits your needs.

  1. backup&recovery
  2. System replication
  3. Tenant move

All of them are well documented via help.sap.com

Just check this blog post for details.

In any case you have to look for the custom configuration used by your tenant.
