Error Terminating Instance

Hi there

I have a SAP Business One 9.3 instance, running on Azure, which I'm trying to Terminate but getting an error stating "Action Delete Resource Group did not complete in 1800 seconds." And the Instance status has gone to "Undefined". As shown in the attached images.

Looking at the resources in the Azure control panel it seems all the virtual machines have been deleted but there are still some resources and resource groups left.

I've twice tried Terminating the Instance but got the same error. Unfortunately the error doesn't specify which resource group is causing the error and reading other questions here it seems you can end up in a catch-22 if you delete the wrong things from Azure.

Can anybody shed some light on how I can Terminate this instance?

Best regards

Edu

Hi Edu,

Everything inside the instance resource group should be part of the instance and should be deleted. However the group is there for all the time instance is alive and you or somebody else could put something inside. Usually this ends with losing this entity when the instance is terminated. However there are some cases when the resource group cannot be deleted due to this usage. One example is if you reuse the security group for another instance, which is in other resource group, another example is if you use backup service from the provider.

In all those cases I would expect to see real error message instead of timeout, so maybe here is just a temporary internal failure in Azure. You can try terminate operation again and if it still fails to delete the resource group with everything inside from Azure portal - if it still fails perhaps there you will have more meaningful error message. If it is successful CAL will detect that deletion and will update the instance status to terminated.
