Error selecting hierarchy node as key figure (Chart)

Hi everybody,

I got an error selecting a key figure as series since our update to Design Studio 1.5.

The key figure is the top level of an hierarchy and displayed as follows:

After selecting this column as series the following error appears:

If I select two columns, everythings works as expected.

We already updated our development system to 1.6 but still get the error.

Is there any SAP Note related to this problem? We couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Simon

Hi Simon,

I have been able to reproduce your issue in Design Studio 1.6.  Interestingly, the same behaviour occurs with the new Info Chart as well.  A flat key figure structure on the other hand works fine.  It would seem to me that this is a bug, especially if you didn't have the same problem prior to upgrading to Design Studio 1.5.

FYI, my results are shown in the screenshots below:

Data source Initial View:

Single hierarchy node key figure selection:

Corresponding chart:

Two key figures selected, including one hierarchy node:

Standard Chart and Info Chart with one hierarchy node key figure:

I would be inclined to open a support ticket for this as it appears to be a bug.

Regards,

Mustafa.

Thanks Mustafa,

it seems like that someone forgot to insert "[" "]" before and behind the key figure Enterprise ID.

If you select the key figure the selections string looks as follows:

After adding them and clicking "show" again the series is displayed as expected.

My ticket is forwarded to the development team, I will inform you if they provided a solution.

Best regards,

Simon

The bug will be fixed with the next DS Support Package - expected in February 2016...

Hi Simon - what is your data source?  BW, HANA or?

Are you connecting via BI Platform or?

Hi Tammy,

this is a BW datasource and we are connecting via BI Platform, yes.

Thanks!

Simon - I can't seem to locate anything either on this; I recommend submitting a SAP Support ticket, referencing this thread

Okay, we already submitted a SAP Support ticket.
We are playing the usual ping pong game with the support team and didn't get any answer yet.

That's the reason why I asked for a solution here. Sometimes it is much faster than submitting the ticket. I will post the solution here.

Can you reproduce the error?

I will try later today - I don't know that I have the same kind of data that you are showing but will try

Simon - can you share a screenshot of how your BEx query looks, and I will try to recreate?

HI Simon,

whats in the Rows / Free Characteristics of the BEx query ?

Any specific items in the DEFAULTS area ?

I see that you are using a hierarchical key figure structure. Did you see what happens when you just use a flat key figure structure ?

thanks
