End with Error Oracle Database connector Error

Dear All:

We are encountering a strange issue with Crystal Reports (RPT) using Oracle DB 12g. Previously, the database connector worked without any problems. However, after a database restoration, one of the RPT files started returning an error.

We are using Visual Studio as the development tool for Crystal Report development.

The log shows that after generating Report A successfully, when continuing to run Report B, the following error occurs:

>> Report B: ended with error
>> Error in File report-B {random id}.rpt:
>> Database Connector Error

Interestingly, if we wait for about 10 seconds and then re-run the report generation process, both Report A and Report B can be generated without any issue.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation, and could you share what might be causing this behaviour?

Thank you very much,

Leo Chan

Hi Leo,

Since it works after 10 seconds it indicates there is nothing wrong with the report itself.

I suggest you discuss with your DBA, they may be able to enable logging or possibly scan the tables used to see if there are any issues.

Could be a caching issue or possibly a temp table the DB uses to cache the data, hard to say for sure...

CR does have a data connection logging component called CRLogger, but it can only log issues CR has when connecting, and more than likely it will only indicate the same error you are seeing.

That error is being returned by your DB client by the way, it's not being generated by CR, otherwise it would not work at all.
