ECC tables extraction through Function Module for BI

Hello,

I need to create a Generic DataSource on ECC tables to get the info in BI 7 system. Due extraction must be run over 2 tables having some coding/logic I've determined the ideal way is to use extraction through a Function Module.

Now, I've searched for some information and found a How To document "SAP BI Generic Extraction Using a Function Module", but many things are not clear for me. Would you please give some links, references or help about Generic DataSources based on Function Modules?. I hope you could help.
