Dynamic Load Balancing vs Static Load Balancing

What do you guys recommend, Dynamic or Static Loading Balancing+Logon Groups? This is to be for 2 instances envoirnment. 1 Central and 1 Dialog.

I would say (as so often) - it depends.

If you CI also carries the batch and update processes and it's not overloaded one could add it to the logon group. If you have a heavy batch load (such as we have) and the CI is already loaded just use the DI for the interactive work.

Hi Markus and pleasure to have you look at my issue!

Just to make sure I understand you well, right now we only have one central instance that's pretty loaded with users and batch jobs. In this case, you recommened moving ""all"" users to the new Dialog Instance? And not configure any load balancing?

We use load balancing but with only one DI (an additional one can be started and added). I would try to keep the (CPU- and memory-) load spreaded over the instances, you may need to experiment a bit.

does Load Balancing need an SAP web dispatcher?

A web dispatcher is only then needed if you access the system through web and you want to use load balancing for that purpose. For ABAP only SMLG load balancing it's not necessary.

i was able to configure SMLG pretty easy. The only question I have is how does the WEBGUI works connection works since now I have to assign the connection by a GroupLogon and not the server's name.

As I said - if you need web access and you want to distribute load across both systems you need to install and configure webdispatcher.
