DSU Execution Error

I have been having this issue

() while

upgrading our SAP PI 7.0 system to 7.1. So I decided to restart the whole

upgrade process.

I ran the upgrade tool by running:

c:\usr\sap\SID\upg\startup.bat

but that gave the error:

DSU Execution Error on myserver1

Error while creating request list - see preceeding messages. Unable to

detect an abap and/or AS Java instance of the SAP system SID installed on

host myserver1

So I then:

- Deleted the files under c:\usr\sap\SID\upg\

- Restarted the 2 servers (myserver1and myserver2)

- Moved the SAP SID and DB cluster instances to myserver1

- Started the SAP SID instance

- Stopped the SDM

Then I ran:

c:\SAPup\SAPNWAS_ABAP_71_UpgMstr\startup.bat -fixdirectory=c:\usr\sap\SID\upg

which ran and I could see a 2nd command windows appear and disappear -

the DSUService.bat file did not run correctly.

Then I ran this manually:

c:\usr\sap\SID\upg\sdt\exe\DSUService.bat

Then in IE I went to: http://myserver1:4239/ and started the SDTGui

but I still get the error:

DSU Execution Error on myserver1

Any ideas why this is occuring and how I can resolve it?

From which user are you running the upgrade tool ?

I was running it as user sidadm.

I have now resolved the problem - there was an issue with the start profile of the dialogue instance.

Hi Bernd,

Sorry but I can't remember the exact paramater now, but I had to correct something in the start profile of the dialogue instance. It may have been the instance number...
