Hi,
The term Version upgrade refers to the upgrade of SAP release. An upgrade from SAP R/3 4.6C to ERP 6.0 is a Version upgrade.
Enhancement Package upgrade is moving from one enhancement package release to another for an SAP solution.
For example EHP upgrade from SAP ERP 6.0 EHP3 to ERP 6.0 EHP5.
Thanks

That's a good question.
From a strictly technical perspective, SAP Ehp upgrade is very similar to SAP release Upgrade.
And despite SAP documentation sating that " SAP's latest Business Suite provides innovation without disruption through the SAP Enhancement Packages (EHP). SAP Enhancement Packages represent a new software delivery strategy that allows you to get innovations on top of SAP Business Suite without the need for upgrading your current release."
Well from my experience, applying a recent EHP is definitely disruptive, sometimes as disruptive as upgrading your current release .... so I must probably be missing something ....

Hello
Technically what is the difference between Version upgrade and EHP upgrades.
They both are upgrade activities.
A release upgrade is done to upgrade an SAP system to a new technology level with the possibility to go to an EHP level.
The EHP upgrade/installation is done in a similar way but the purpose is to bring in new business functions.

One more point to add :
Technically how the shadow system is built also depends on it....
You can check this from DETMAINMODE phase....if release upgrade method used is 'export' if ehp upgrade then 'clone' method is used.
