Difference between Technical Upgrade and Functional Upgrade

Experts pls provide some insight on the differences between Technical and Functional Upgrade

1. Upgrade ECC5.0 to ECC6.0 is it technical upgrade or functional upgrade?

2. ECC6.0 SP 11 to ECC 6.0 SP14 is it technical upgrade or functional upgrade?

3. ECC6.0 SP14 to ECC6.0 EHP1 is it technical upgrade or functional upgrade?

As Basis/Netweaver technology consultants we only do technical upgrades . Functional upgrades are something related to business and is not within the scope of any technical consultant. Any support pack update , EHP update or version upgrade are all technical activities on our part to do .

Functional upgrades are not within our scope of work.

Hi Harish,

All of the above are technical upgrades. "Functional upgrade" is that what it means, upgrade functionality (in sense of new functionality for MM, SD etc.)  vs. "technical upgrade" which is just an upgrade of the underlying technology without changing functionality.
