Difference between EP5, EP6, EP7

Experts,

I have a doubt on the versions of EP and the corresponding Netweaver Versions.

I think EP7 comes with NW2004s( released on 2005) NW2004s has both ABAp and Java Stack. Is their any relation between Nw2004s and ECC6.

EP6 comes with NW2004(released 2004), NW2004 has only java stack. Is their any relation between Nw2004 and ECC5. ECC5 has ABAP R/4.

when EP5 has released and its corresponding netweaver version?

Im really confused with the EP, NW2004/NW2004s and ECC5/ECC6 versions.

can u clearly explain the entity relationship between them.

Thanks in advance,

James...

Hi James

Regarding the different NetWeaver technology releases, NetWeaver 04 and NetWeaver 7.0 (previous name was NW04s) both provide ABAP & Java stacks.

Here is also a quick recap of SAP portal releases:

- Portal 5.0: predate any official NetWeaver release

- Portal 6.0 (EP 6): part of NetWeaver 04 release

- Portal 7.0 (EP 7): part of NetWeaver 7.0 release

- All portal releases require a Java engine, so you must have a Java stack installed for your portal server to run

SAP ERP 6.0 (ECC 6.0) is the latest SAP ERP release, and is based on NetWeaver 7.0 technology release (check this <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40c09801-4064-2a10-56be-d6697292255b">document</a> for more information about SAP ERP 6.0).

Hope this clarifies a bit.

Joseph

Hi James,

Yes, NetWeaver 04 includes ABAP and Java stacks.

SAP ERP 2004 is the official name that includes ECC 5.0, and is based on NetWeaver 04 technology release.

Hope this clarifies.

Joseph
