Hi all,
I small question about delta records.
talking about tx RSA7
In RSA7 we have to tabs
1. Delta update
2. Delta repeatation
in what scenario they both has effective usage in data warhousing
So can give more idea and depth detail about above.
thanks & regards

Hi taniya,
RSA7 : In simple
Delta Update : This will show you How many delta records are ready to process to BW
Delta Repetition : This will show you , What has already been loaded to BW, so that you can again run repeat delta if the last delta load was not successful in bw side.

Suman

HI Taniya,
Before I answer, I want to tell you that you better try on your BI DEV,Test client system if you got.
First, rsa7 is only for delta queue mechanism where you will find New/Change records entries. So till you run delta load it will maintain delta in it.
Second, You really dont require too anything like such.
Third, Repeat delta maintains records of last successful update. Once you run another it will replace a new records.
Hope it helps.

Dear Raman/Martin/Anshu/Arpit,
I agree with all lines.
1. Suppose if the delta repeat in RSA7 has years of data though delta loads are running on daily successful basis. At this situation?
2. Can I make repeat delta repeat table or content in RSA7 empty with ensuring all success full deltas in bw.
3. After successful delta load if i wantedly marked status as to repeat delta then missed data of previous year would be loaded to bw system.
Thank You so much again for more descriptive explanation.

Hi Taniya,
1. Delta repeat holds only latest req. there is no chance to hold years at RSA7. Delta means updated data on daily basis.
2. At RSA7 - there is nothing to set. its just for display
3. No. If you set green/success request to red. there is no chance to get last req records. because once req was green, system may sends green/success message so there is no chance have repeat option in this case. think so.
Repeat Delta: For example:
My loads are happening daily at 7AM. so today one delta load was failed. so today request was red. So again i will make my req to red a tpsa level.
i will run my info pack manually, its as last delta red was failed want to do repeat delta, i say yes. its brings yesterday data(Yestreday 7am to today 7 am) and today data(as of now, Today 7 am to 7PM(now my time is 7pm), which are reached to RSA7).
That's the use repeat delta. other that there is no situations to consider about repeat delta.
Thanks
1. Suppose if the delta repeat in RSA7 has years of data though delta loads are running on daily successful basis. At this situation?
Repeat delta only contains the last broken entry there is no such thing as a big queue..
2. Can I make repeat delta repeat table or content in RSA7 empty with ensuring all success full deltas in bw.
You should not delete anything in rsa7. it only leads to inconstencies. If you delete the init in bw it will also clean the queue.
3. After successful delta load if i wantedly marked status as to repeat delta then missed data of previous year would be loaded to bw system.
once a successfull delta pickup happened you don't need to do anything. actually you never need to do anything in rsa7. you can do all from bw side. the repeat of a unsucessful delta load you trigger in bw and rsa7 will manage itself

Hi Taniya,
1. Suppose if the delta repeat in RSA7 has years of data though delta loads are running on daily successful basis. At this situation?
Delta queue will only hold data of the last request and it will maintain until the next successful request loads into BI.I have already explained the same in my last reply. So in any case if your delta loads are running daily then it wont have years of data.
2. Can I make repeat delta repeat table or content in RSA7 empty with ensuring all success full deltas in bw.
Everything you need to do in BI nothing in RSA7. Only in case your delta load fail then you can request for repeat delta by triggering the infopackage again.
3. After successful delta load if i wantedly marked status as to repeat delta then missed data of previous year would be loaded to bw system.
Nothing will happen if you change the setting to repeat delta in RSA7 that is only for displaying the data in queue.
I hope all your queries have been answered in case you need more info.i would suggest to try it practically on your DEV system provided you have access to it.

AL
Hi Raman,
sorry to respond late.
Thanks
For 3 answer
As you knew about my last thread where i asked about the system which was stopped long back. So in that situation if the last delta of year 2012 is failed and running repeat delta in 2013 could successfully bring all records.
Thanks again for briefing more.
Regards
Hi Taniya,
in production never be that much gap as one year.
as my guess there is no updated data at BW side by seeing your job log.
so check the info cube level, when the last request was loaded?
Still your not clear. Repeat delta works only when last delta was failied.
Delta loads always happens below 24hrs only for FI Data sources.
" So in that situation if the last delta of year 2012 is failed and running repeat delta in 2013 could successfully bring all records"
In reality never be happen like this. production is system was in live and loads happens on daily basis.
check with your team lead or project manger about that data flow.
Thanks
Hi
You won't have a case where RSA7 holds years of delta when your delta is running fine all documents get picked up from RSA7. Should your delta not get successfully loaded into BW it will be queued as repair delta request. There can't be any further successfull deltas be queued until you pick up the repair delta requests. Therefore you don't have years of data.
hope it clarifies
Martin
Hi taniya,
I think you are getting too much confused with the concept.
Repeat delta will be available for the last successful/unsuccessful delta to BW. You cannot have all last year's data as repeat delta. You have to load all historical data through repair full loads/full loads. After that initialize your delta and start running delta loads.
Please do not depend on RSA7 for the last year's data. Hope you will close this thread and open new one.

suman
Hi,
As others have already informed, its quite simple.
Delta Update --> Records to be further send to BW.
Delta Repetition --> Records which are already send to BW but might be needed to called back to BW as " Repeat of Last Delta" if the last delta loads fails in BW.

Dear Suman/Raman/Martin,
Nice and thanks
1. Enabling or selecting Delta at RSA7 for default has any effect on data loading.
2. Will there be data always present in delta repeatation table (RSA7 --> delta repeat ---display---> execute) if yes then how long it would be there?

Hi,
1.Manually we won't select at RSA7. we set delta set up at info pack level only..
2. i think it may hold latest delta request data only. if last delta req was failed info pack, that request will hold at delta repetition.
once delta request was success at info pack level, automatically delta repeating will be zero.
Thanks
Hi,
1. Enabling or selecting Delta at RSA7 for default has any effect on data loading--Their is no effect on data loading, its just to see the data in both the modes.
Data in delta queue will be present until next successful load in BI.
So if your first load is successful in BI and then also it will maintain the same data which you can check in RSA7 by selecting the option repeat delta.
Once you load the second day delta then the first day delta will not be available in repeat delta the records will be replaced by second day delta.
Thats how this works. You can give a try for more understanding on the same.

AL

Hi,
Delta - as usual delta.
Repeat delta - When the last delta was failed, by using repeat delta we can get back those data as well as present data.
At info pack level when we set as red for last delta request, then only we get repeat delta option for the same info pack.
Thanks

Hi
Delta repetition only comes in play once a delta load has not successfully finished in bw and needs to be repeated in order to go back to the normal delta queue behaviour
Hope it helps
