Hello Friends,
Newbie. Would like to know the procedures to go thru for deleting Delta, Deleting setup tables and initializing delta. Should i use all this on dev R/3 or prod R/3, does it make any difference . What are the transactions to follow? Please give me the steps and some notes.
Thanks in advance,
Anjali

Hi Anjali,
The comment below is valid for LIS extractors, I do not know if it is valid for others.
First of all, uou should indeed go trough this on all your systems. (dev, QA and Prod). The procedure is used to prepare DATA on your system for extraction on BW. Data in dev is different from data in Prod, therefore you need to do it in every system.
1) First delete (= rsa7) or load into BW (via delta upload) any remaining delta queues.
2) Go to SBIW, delete the contents of the setup table (It's somewhere in the menu of Logistic cockpit, you'll find it).
3) Fill the setup tables. It's in the same transaction a little bit lower. Run in background, and put the end date in the future.
4) Initialize delta in BW.
5) Fill the delta queues using LBWE.
6) Upload delta's in BW
Repeat step 6 and 7 as often as you want.
I hope it helps,
Tom
In the same transaction (SBIW). You can afterwards run the setup.

Hello Tom,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Would you please tell me what are the things i need to be careful of when deleting delta or setup tables.
I was asked to delete delta, delete setup tables and initialize delta from Production R/3 to Dev BW and then transport it to Prod BW.
Thanks in advance for any helpful hints.
Anjali
Hi Anjali,
Of course, when you delete DELTA, you loose further DELTA updates to your existing BW Infoproviders (if theres any).
On top of that, there no more I can comment...
A slight comment. As far as I know, you cant transport this whole DELTA extraction process from anywhere. You need to do it directly in R/3 connected to BW Production. BW Logs DELTA extractions and you could run to serious inconsistencies if you re-direct connection say from DEV BW then to BW Prod.

Hi Anjali,
Deleting DELTA could take some time. You should however delete it with the least users around. Executing in background will ensure that GUI Front End disconnection would not cancel the job. Also, depending on your settings, a Front End Processing has a time out of 1 hour (at least in our setup) thereby disconnecting your processing...
