Just wondering is there a difference between a SAPu2019s Business Information Warehouse and a enterprise data warehouse?

Hi,

EDW is part of BW Data warehousing in perspective of BI. it is like consolidates data from multiple sources (R3, flat files, SCM,HR etc..) in support of organization wide decision making and related information needs such as reporting, analysis, and planning.

EDW will be a layered architecure... initial layer, staging layer and reporting layer...

Is it right to say data warehouse is actually what we can call it Enterprise Data warehouse. Because both terms holds data centrally.

Yes, with slight difference in usage both will be reffering to the same meaning.

Hi,

When we use the EDW in SAP BW it will be reffered as one approch for the object development. But if we talk in general manner it will be same meaning as the SAP BW warehouse .
