Dear All.

i have some question and need your valuable comments.

1. how long we should store the data in the DSO? ( i read several places it keep current copy of data and should not keep data more then 45 to 60 days)

2. Datawarehouse layer also build from DSO and can store historical data upto years, then how can we diffrer these both DSO and what should be our stragery for that should we develop both ODS as same and download the data to the DSO for DWH layer after 60 days and clean or empty the other DSO?

3. what is best approach for the data retention in DSO and Cube in years.

any comment and help will be highly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Hi

You can archive data periodically from DSO/Cube to other means of storage.

The best approach could be archiving cubes ( keeping last few years ) data and archiving DSOs ( keeping last few months data). Cubes contain much aggregated data required for reporting on wider time periods.

Hi Syed,

The data retention in the DSO or cubes depends upon the business requirement and the volume of data and alos the available resources i.e. how much is the disk space available. As per the standard you can archieve the data from DSO and cubes after every 3 years...Rest depends upon the business requirement.

Cheers...
