My company is currently using IBM's AS/400 to handle our backend data. Our goal is to create an iOS application that would allow customers to access the database's information from a remote location. However, in our current state we are unable to do so. I understand that Apple is a partner with SAP and offers developers frameworks to easily connect to SAP services. Would a data migration, perhaps to an SAP database with cloud capabilities, allow my company to create such an app?

Is your IBM i server (formerly known as AS/400) running software based on SAP NetWeaver? If so, and if you are at SAP NetWeaver release 7.40 or above, you may be able to create so-called CDS views directly on IBM i and access them easily from a SAP Fiori app running on iOS. You can develop your application in the SAP Cloud Platform and deploy it to your SAP system on IBM i when it is ready.
