Dear MDM Specialists,
How do we create a hierarchy i.e. a company's hierarchy and assign records under it.
Do we have to create a field as hierarchy or taxonomy look up field in the main table and create a hierarchy in that field or is there another way to create a hierarchy in MDM.
Thanks.
Jack
Request clarification before answering.
1. Create a Taxonomy or Hierarchy table first, define your fields.
2. Link this table to main table by creating a lookup field in main table and point to taxonomy/hierarchy table created in step 1.

I am talking about fields such as name of category, any other identifiers etc.
Taxonomy is essentially for attributes.
Taxonomy and Hierarchy are somewhat similar in terms of representing data but they are different in terms of their features. Taxonomy is for attributes and hierarchy is for classifying your product in more than one category.

Venkat,
Could you let me know if the following steps I have used are correct.
I Created 11 main table fields out of which 4 are taxonomy LKP fields and one is hierachy LKP field.
The idea of using taxonomy lookup was for creating categories which would have different attributes in them.
e.g. Different Tire manufacturers would make similar set of tires but the attributes names would be same say 7 attributes (different values per manufacturer). In our case we have 4 different companies which would make the same kind of tire so we have 4 taxonomy LKP fields in the main table i.e. one category per taxonomy LKP field.
I have now created all my categories with its different attributes.
In the hierachy mode I selected the hierachy table. Here I am not able to bring any of my categories ?
Kindly let me know how to accomplish hierarchy of categories.
Also what is the sequence to import the data.
Greatly appreciate your inputs.
Thanks.
Hari
