Hi all,
I'm trying to archive data from an infocube via a data archiving process.
I was able to create a data archiving process and execute it, but it always stops after a few seconds.
In the job log the system is telling me that the data that I want to archive has to be compressed.
So is it a prerequisite to compress the data to be archived before archiving can take place?
Request clarification before answering.
Hi together,
sorry, that was my fault. I don't know why I wrote this statement.
If you do not compress, it might occur that a request can only be archived partially, which can not be handled by the system. Hence, data is only archived from the E table (if time sliced selection is used), which is the compressed one.

Hi, can you tell me what type of archiving tool you are using? ADK, NLS, etc, heard NLS is not available until BW 7.1 and ADK is not good for reading retreived data.
I am writing pros & cons so the company decides what to use!

Hi,
I opened an OSS-note for this issue and just got the answer:
apparently it IS a requirement to compress the data you want to archive when using time-slice archiving with a data archiving process.

Hi Werner,
there is no requirement to compress the data first before archiving it.
