Creating Portal Applications in Java

Hi all,

I have been working on EP - KM for a long time. However, i am not aware of how to right our own code to create iViews and other portal applications.

I am able to see a lot of experts sharing their experience in creating and debugging portal applications written in java.

Could you any of you experts guide me in going ahead with creating portal applications in Java / JSP etc.

Also do suggest whether it is mandatory for me to have a specific formal training from SAP to go ahead with coding portal applications.

Note: I have aware of basic programming in java/jsp.

Your help and guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,

venkat.

Hi venkat,

You can use Developers Guide to learn this.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/9f/fd4e41bbd1f423e10000000a155106/frameset.htm

PDF versions are also available on service marketplace.

It would be beneficial if you can go through Enterprise Portal Development training as well. Although I dont think it's mandatory. You can definitely learn yourself.

Also let me know if you need help.

Hi venkat,

It is not necessary for any training if u know Java Basics.

Check these link for how to manage with semantic objects.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/fd/ea5c42da4de92ce10000000a1550b0/content.htm

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/70/4aa042a5deb611e10000000a155106/content.htm

With this, u can lookup, create or delete iViews, pages etc programatically.

Harini S
