Hello,
I am currently working on a project based on Datasphere.
Datasphere is one of SAP’s data solutions and is often compared to BW.
Since I have only worked with Datasphere, I am not very familiar with BW.
Therefore, I would like to understand the differences in roles and functionalities between BW and Datasphere.
BW have limitations or difficulties in connecting to external (non-SAP) systems?
What are the key reasons why customers choose BW versus Datasphere?
Request clarification before answering.
Hi,
depends on the functionality. BW has been around a while.
I would say, when you compare out-of-the-box features (BW) with limited programming set for do-it-on-your-own (DSP).
BW/4 has limited connections however. BW 7.x used to have DB-Connect, very powerfull, fast and capable, but the BW/4 version no longer supports such connections, whereas DSP includes the PI capabilities with replication (in/outbound) flows.
Check the BW docu for more details.
Cheers, Martin
