#COE#BUMA Discard function in Import Collection

We are in the process of creating a standard transport management document, we came across this discard function in Import Collection, we tested one of the transports that was not yet imported and forwarded in test tenant import collection. Software collection version got discarded status. Please see below questions:

- If software collection already imported in Test tenant containing and object (e.g. YY1_PRDummyObj) for Change A. Then a new change was introduced Change B and will use the same software collection, so it'll create a version dependency. Note: Change A (Version 1) and Change B (Version 2). Business decides to move Change B (Version 2) first, prior to Change A (Version 1). System is created to transport Change A (Version 1) as well as it is a dependent of Change B (Version 2). Now we decided to discard Change A (Version 1) to remediate software collection dependency, the questions are:

1. Will this resolve the dependency? 
2. Since Change A (Version 1) is already import, discarding this will revert back any changes or not?
3. What is other FAQ's or we should know about Discard function in Import Collection

Hi,

As per the Import Collection: Business Impact and Dependencies section on the SAP Help Portal:

• If Collection Change A (Version 1) is not imported, all its items will be included in Version 2 during import.

• If you decide to discard Version 1 and import only Version 2, it will not have any dependency impact on Version 2.

• Later, if you want to import items from Version 1, you can choose Export > All items. This will include the items that were not yet imported into the test tenant, along with the new version.
