Cloud ALM for Implementation - Task ID

Dear community,

my team and I are currently searching for an identifier capability for tasks in Cloud ALM for Implementations.

As it is sometimes difficult to direct colleagues and customers to the right task, we would like to use some kind of task ID. This would for sure help us in our daily communication, e.g. when reminding multiple project members to complete, update or discuss a particular task.

Do you know if an ID-functionality alredy exists and if not how we can work-around that gap?

jonaskerbeck - good question. How are you working around this today? Are you using the title of the task or something else in your reminders to the task owners?

As a side note, we do have technical IDs behind the scenes. They are assigned at the time of task creation by our authors, thus they will not be sequential through the phases and deliverables - e.g. the ID of a task in Prepare phase may be much higher that ID of a task that has been in Activate since the early days. Would you want the ID to be “just” identifier or have additional purpose in your project?

thanks for your quick response!

You are correct, today, we are using task titles in our communication. However, it is quite cumbersome having to search for a task via text search, especially when there are mutliple tasks with similar names.

An ID would set a unified understanding among the project members and avoid confusion. As such, we would use that ID only to clrearly communicate the correct tasks.

Another use case also related to the communication of tasks would be a "share" functionality for pre-filtered task lists. For instance, it would be great to forward views on tasks that are still open and need to be processed via link or email with the responsible users. This way, the repsonsible person would not have to narrow down the task list again.
