Cascading Effect between Inputs Controls is not working with Linked Analysis for different charts

Hi everyone,

I’m currently facing a limitation in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) while building a Story report, and I would like to share it here — both to confirm if others are experiencing the same issue and to ask for your support.

The Scenario:

In our project, the customer requires cascading behavior between Input Controls that are connected to different charts using Linked Analysis.

The expected behavior would be:

  • Input Control A filters Chart A
  • Input Control B filters Chart B
  • And selections in one control should cascade and dynamically restrict the available values in the other control

However, according to SAP Help:

“There is no cascading effect between group filters that affect different sets of widgets.”

So even when Linked Analysis is configured, cascading does not work if the input controls affect different widget sets.

The Impact:

This limitation makes it impossible to implement a very common reporting requirement:

  • Dependent dropdown filters
  • Context-driven selections across different sections of a Story
  • Controlled and guided user navigation experience

For customers coming from BW/BO or other BI tools, this behavior is often expected as standard.

Existing Improvement Request:

There is already an Improvement Request submitted to SAP for this functionality.

However, for the request to be reviewed by SAP Product Management, it must receive at least 25 votes from different customers/companies.

Without enough votes, the request will not move forward for evaluation.

Call for Support:

If you:

  • Have faced the same limitation
  • Believe this functionality would improve SAC usability
  • Or simply want to support the enhancement

Please consider voting for the improvement request.

The more visibility and votes it receives, the higher the chance SAP will analyze and potentially prioritize it.

The link to vote in this request are: Request

Let’s see if we can reach the required 25 votes and bring this topic to SAP’s attention.

Thanks in advance for your support!
