BW Source System re-configuration

Hi,

I need to change the Source System in our BW Server. The Source System is R/3 310 Client, and now we need it to be R/3 300 Client, both Development and Production systems.

¿Can I change the Source System Cliente field value from 310 to 300 and then re-initiate Source System and its infosources? ¿what the impact will be?

Hi dear and welcome on board!

What you don't say is if your new source system is a copy of the old one or is something completely different...since in the first case, you don't need to reinit all your flows but it is enough (more or less) to do a logical name conversion via BDLS !

thanks for your advice. as you said, translating my source system name, via BDLS, was the answer.

Now I have this problem. were do I clic to reward the answer?!?!?!?!

The paper has two problems:

1. both BW and source system must be openend (SCC4). tihs is not written any were in the paper.

2. there is a typo in page 12. see the image at the rigt ipper corner to see the correct table name.

Our BW Basis support is not at all helpful and I have been battling for months to solve the problem of loosing our DataSource's / Transfer rules etc after refreshing / system copy (BWP to BWD) and then renaming the R/3 Logical System Name.

I read through the document thoroughly and applied instructions successfully this morning ....Thanks so much ......

OSS directed me to SAP note <b>886102</b> which I found not at all helpful (only supplied half of the required steps to follow)in fact very confusing as I am not a basis person.
