BO - MySQL & SQLAnywhere

Hello

We use SAP BO 3 and we will have to migrate to a supported version (4.x).

We are actually using Oracle as referential, but we will migrate to an other DB, and then we have to move the referential part. We are considering MySQL and SQLAnywhere for this. Any recommandation on this choice ?

What is the licensing model for MySQL with SAP BO ? Is that included, or does it need additionnal license ?

Where could we find the SQLAnywhere package compatible/usable with SAP BO Xi3 (for migration testing) ?

Thanks

Hello Christophe,

MySQL is not included with BO 4.x, any licensing for MySQL would be external to BO.

SQL Anywhere is included as the default database for current versions of BO. I'd recommend that if you're not going to use one of the major DBs (ASE, Oracle, DB2 etc) that SQL Anywhere is the next best choice. You would need to perform your own maintenance on that DB.

Dependent on what version you are on, I believe SQL Anywhere should be shipped with 3.1 SP07 so you should already have it. However, I'm a little confused as to why you want to migrate the DB and then migrate the content?

You can install directly BO 4.x onto a new machine (and use SQL Anywhere as the DB) and then migrate the content from your Oracle 3.1 machine to your SQL anywhere BI machine using UMT. There's no requirement to have the same DB in source and destination.

Thanks,
Graham
