BCS/4HANA New function Direct Read

Hi all

With the BCS/4HANA as an add-on to SAP BW/4HANA, there is a new function called "Direct Read of Reported Data," as detailed in SAP Note 2743469 https://me.sap.com/notes/2743469/E.
This feature enables direct read access to arbitrary BW InfoProviders for reported financial data without data replication into the ADSO (Advanced DataStore Object) for totals records in BCS/4HANA.

My question is: Can we also execute a direct read from BW InfoProvider in S4 "BW Embedded" or from CDS Cube in S4 Embedded Analytics without any data replication to the BW system?

Additionally, is it possible to set up the direct read function with a virtual provider/ODS data model in BW? If so, what would the data model look like? Would it be ODS View → Direct read from BCS or ODS View → Replicate data in ADSO → Direct Read?
