AP Line Items

Hello Experts,

I am working on Accounts Payable cubes and ODSs. I

have to activate and load 0FIAP_O03/C03 (line items) from the business content.

I am through with the ground work for them, but I am

confused about which datasource to load it with.

Prior to 2001 plug-in there is only one

datasource(0FI_AP_3) to load this ODS. But now AP_4

is also there, but the extraction is linked to GL_4

(which feeds another ODS). This GL ODS is not at all

required at the client's place. So I could go with

the good old 0FI_AP_3 instead of AP_4, which makes

life easier but the client may require GL line item

extraction in future. So I want to go with AP_4 as

the conversion from AP_3 to AP_4 is a rigorous

process. There is an OSS note (551044) which says

that from the plug-in 2002 (we are on 2003 plugin)

AP_4 extraction no longer depends on GL_4, but the

note contradicts itself by saying GL_4 must be loaded

before AP_4 for the consistency of data. Moreover

these 0FI_*_4 datasources use timestamp method for

deltas and not delta queues (rsa7). So is there a way

I could use AP_4 without ever have to touch GL_4? or

do I have to have GL_4 feeding FIGL_O02 (which is not

required at the client place now) just for the sake of

consistency as mentioned in the note.

Could you please suggest AP_4 can be used without

GL_4. Any input in this regard is highly appreciated.

Hi Sweatha,

with your plug-in you can perform a delta management for your AP datasource without any dependency from the GL datasource...in fact, if you use AR, AP and GL(all), in order to assure a consistent situation in your BW, you have to do the same init selections regarding company code and fiscal year/period for all datasources (with the old plug-in you cannot do this..only selection on GL are allowed and you have to load first GL in order to load also the other ones with the same selections and with a time stamp lower/equal than the GL last record loaded one..).

So, when you say that the note contradicts itself by saying GL_4 must be loaded before AP_4 for the consistency of data, it's not completely true, because you can use only your AP without any problem, but if you active the delta channel also for GL, ONLY IN THIS SITUATION (for consistency reason) GL timestamp leads all the other loads (AP and AR).

In conclusion, the datasources can be used independently of each other, but the strict connection is still valid (for consistency reasons) if you want to use GL, AR and AP all together !
