Agent user required for installing diagnostic agent

When installing the diagnostic agent, do I need to connect to Solution Manager java and create an agent user?

Please confirm.

Dear customer,

For a newly installed Diagnostics Agent, you need to prepare a NetWeaver UME user for initial connection to SAP Solution Manager NetWeaver Java Application Server.

Please refer to instruction in step 1.2) of below KBA:

To use the Root Cause Analytics function of Solution Manager, it's required to connect the Diagnostics Agent to Solution Manager java. For a newly installed Diagnostics Agent, you need provide FQDN where SAP Solution Manager Java SCS instance is located, Java SCS Message Server HTTP Port and Credentials with User, Password.
