Hi Gurus

We are adding new attributes to 0MATERIAL , some of them are customized and some of them are SAP delivered.

Would you pl tell me what I need to change in R/3 side and on BW side and how will it make impact on existing data?

We are using this chat. as an infoprovider.

Hi Krishna,

You can add the new attributes to 0MATERIAL in RSD1 > Attributes tab. You will have to do this in the BWD system and then transport the changes. If this object has been transported earlier, then it will prompt you for the request number when you save and activate it. Also remember to put the newly created attributes (if any) into this transport request as well.

Since you are using this as an Infoprovider, I assume that you have update rules as well...these will have to be activated after changing to include mapping for the new attr as well.

To get data for the new fields you may need to change the datasource in R/3...do you know what datasources are laoding into 0MATERIAL?

After datasource changes, replicate in BW and change the transfer rules (and comm structure) accordingly. Then actiavte the update rules.

Hope this helps...

Thanks Bhanu

One question

How can I check the data source? I clicked on show data flow and its showing R/3 as a source system.

Is there some way to check which datasource the data is coming from?

And will it make some difference in the process for business content attribute and customised attribute?

Got it Bhanu

The data source are 0MAT_PLANT_Attribute and 0MAT_PLANT_Text.

Hi Krishna,

See what Update rules are loading into the 0MATERIAL object. This will give you the name of the InfoSource. Double click it in the BW system, transaction RSA1 > Modeling > InfoSources. Now scroll down in this screen to see Transfer_Structure/Transfer_Rules. You may need to open up this area of the screen. Here you will see entries for Source System and DataSource. Also dropdown on the DataSource field to check if more than one DataSource has been assigned to this InfoSource.

Hope this helps...
