64-bit SUN java for Windows 64-bit x64?

Hi

Anyone who knows if SUN has released a 64-bit version of SUN JDK 1.4.x to be used on a Windows x64 installation?

I haven't been able to find it, but SAP's PAM tells that SAP NW04s is supported for SUN JDK 1.4.2 x64 Windows!

Best regards

Tom

Hi, I had a problem, I was installing SAP ECC 6.0 on Itanium 2 HP Servers and a Install JRE 1.4.2 for 32 bits, it install with no errors, however from SAPINST required me JRE again. I try to search JRE for Itanium at Sun portal and nothing, I found just for AMD, I try at this URL: http://download.huihoo.com/java/javase/1.4.2/ and I can download JRE for Itanium 2, finally I can install without any problem.

Regards ....

Hello,

I'm trying to install IDES 4.7 Retail on a 64-bit Dual XEON machine on Windows 2003 Enterprise x64.

I have used the AMD64 version of JDK 1.4.2, but I don't think it's helping. The first time I ran JDK 1.4.2.13 AMD64, the java setup threw a warning/error that the architecture is not compatible. It worked fine the next time I ran it.

MS SQL 2000 has installed itself as a 32-bit version!! And later on, SAPINST failed to install when running the file setup.cmd (from installation CD #5039652) -- it uses JAVA_HOME to detect the processor's architecture and it looks for AMD64 directory inside the installation directory, which does not exist (only I386 exists).

Questions:

1) Is XEON 64-bit compatible with IDES 4.7 Retail?

2) Is there a compatible version of JDK 1.4 for XEON 64?

3) Is it safe to use JDK 6 and will other applications/installations see the system as a 64-bit machine?

4) Do certain Windows updates/patches/hotfixes affect any of the installations?

Thank you

Hello,

Can you share the outcome of this issue? Were you able to install the JDK amd64 on the XEON process and still use SAP NW '04s?

Thanks.

Please see SAP Note # 941595 that describes how you can get access to 64 bit 1.4.2.X for SAP customers only.

In addition, please make sure you get 1.4.2.12 or greater as 1.4.2.11 has some bugs that makes java copy slow.

Hope this helps.

We are on intel xeon 64 bit. I don't find the right java. The one that is referred to is only for AMD. Any help for xeon is appreciated.

Thanks

The J2SE version 1.4.2_15-b02 for x64 available at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/SAPsite/download.html works for my servers running Intel Xeon 64-Bit.

This is the J2SE version that needs to be installed for machines running x64 platform as per note 941595. https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/941595

Both Intel and AMD based servers are referred as x64, NT/x64, x86_64 64bit. (Also see the operating system names note 883555 - https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/883555)

Hi Holger

I have been looking here.

I can find a 32-bit version and a 64-bit for the Itanium architecture, not for x64 (AMD)! If you can find it please tell be the exact url.

Thanks for trying.

Hi

Ok. I now found JDK 1.5 which can be downloaded for x64/AMD. The SAP Installer accepts this version with a warning.
