We're excited to share an important enhancement to our service - we've upgraded our System Overview Housekeeping feature!

It will be available with Wave 2025.06 on Fast Track Tenants and with 2025.Q2 QRC Release on QRC Tenants.

In the past, we have provided many useful pieces of information with the System Overview. Now, we’ve taken the next step and are closing another gap. We are making the information actionable, meaning we allow batch deletion of unused objects. This will be possible through our previously introduced System Overview Housekeeping feature.

This is an evolution towards better data management and an improved user experience. The feature now includes a selective deletion function for objects.

What does this mean for you?

This advancement allows you to delete specific objects of your choice, eliminating the effort of manual cleaning. But it doesn’t stop there. In addition to the primary object, all dependent objects are also automatically deleted. This means you no longer need to worry about unnecessary and unused objects adding up in your system and slowing down its performance. This upgrade marks another step in our journey towards offering smarter, simplified solutions that resonate with your business needs.

Easier Administration:

The ability to delete objects and their dependencies with just a few clicks significantly enhances user-friendliness. This makes the administration of the system considerably easier for administrators.

Improved Transparency:

The display of objects that have not been used in a specific period gives users a clear overview of which data can be safely deleted. No more worrying about accidentally deleting something important. This level of transparency empowers users to confidently manage their data, with the assurance that they're not getting rid of crucial information in the process.

Less Maintenance Effort:

The automatic detection and deletion of dependencies and objects mean less manual work. Teams no longer need to regularly clean up and search for dependencies, which simplifies maintenance and reduces administrative effort. The feature automates the process, thus freeing up your team to focus on tasks that truly require their expertise.

The Past vs The Present:

In the past, users would have to manually search for all dependent objects in the system and delete them before they could delete the main object. This process was not only time-consuming but also prone to errors, as users might not have discovered all dependencies.

Important Technical Background:

With postMessage API (Analytics Designer API Reference Guide - postMessage ) that, for your security, can only be invoked from the System Overview content, we allow to delete SAC Objects.

Important Notes:

Deletion of Connections and Folders is not yet allowed but is planned to be available with 2025.Q4.
Deletion is limited, due to performance reasons, to 5k Rows in the Selection Table.

There is a difference between hard and stage delete. Stage delete first makes a detour through the recycle bin, while hard delete removes objects permanently.

Hard delete is applicable for the following objects:

Model
Custom Widget
~~Connection~~
~~Folder~~
Multiaction
Data Action
Rate

The rest undergoes stage deletion.

We first search for all dependencies and delete those before removing the parent objects. Depending on the number of selected objects and the number of dependent objects, the deletion process can take a few minutes. Please be patient.
