++++ UPDATE December 10th ++++

Dear SAP BTP trial Community,

We’re pleased to announce that the SAP BTP Cloud Foundry Runtime is now fully available again on trial accounts.

Over the past weeks, we temporarily restricted access due to an unprecedented level of platform misuse that was impacting the experience for all users. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.

Moving forward, we will be actively monitoring usage patterns to ensure a positive experience for our entire community. Should similar issues arise, we may need to implement necessary measures to maintain service quality and availability for everyone.

Thank you for your continued engagement with BTP Trial and for the comments you’ve shared throughout this process. Your interest and participation help us improve the platform for all users.

Best regards,
The BTP Trial Product Team

++++ Initial Update ++++

Dear SAP BTP trial community,

We always aimed to give users the most freedom and flexibility in the SAP BTP trial to ensure that everyone can test and explore our software or use it for learning purposes. For the next weeks, the SAP BTP trial will not be able to deliver this experience for new SAP BTP trial accounts as we have to prioritize the security and reliability of our SAP BTP trial system. We are experiencing an unusually high amount of misuse limiting the availability for all of our users.

Therefore, we decided to temporarily reduce the offering for the SAP BTP Cloud Foundry runtime for new BTP Trial Accounts. You will still be able to build applications and preview them, but deployment in the SAP BTP Cloud Foundry runtime will not be possible for the next weeks.

How can you still explore SAP BTP?

All updates will be posted in the SAP Community.

If you have an existing account that was created before October 15th, you are not affected.

See you soon,
SAP BTP trial product team

Hello,

Could you please confirm if this is the reason why it's not possible to allocate additional memory for the Cloud Foundry runtime entitlements in the SAP BTP trial on AWS?

Since memory cannot be added, and HANA Cloud is also unavailable in subaccounts hosted on Azure, it seems that deploying CAP applications in the BTP trial environment is currently not feasible. I also attempted to use PostgreSQL as the database, but the instance creation consistently returns a 500 error without any detailed explanation.
Thank you in advance for your clarification.

Best regards,
Eva Gil

Dear @EvaGil ,

Yes deployment in CAP is currently not possible and no CF runtime memory can be allocated. Please excuse the inconvenience.

Best regards,
Carolin

Hi @CarolinBoeke,

Is this just a temporary measure and if so is there a timeframe when will it be available again?

With Devtoberfest ongoing and SAP TechEd around the corner, its going to be tough for users using the Trial account for learning.

Regards,

Melwyn

Dear @MMonis

yes this is only temporary and not a state we desire to keep for long. I cannot share a timeline, yet but we have those initiatives in mind and are in touch with session organizers.

Dear SAP BTP Trial Support Team,

Good morning.

In my case, the BTP Trial account was created before October 15, but I am still unable to allocate memory to the Cloud Foundry Runtime.

I am currently in the middle of a training course, and this issue is blocking my learning process. Could you please review my account and restore access to the Cloud Foundry Runtime service if possible?

Again, I would like to emphasize that my trial account was created prior to October 15.

Thank you very much for your attention and support.

Kind regards,
Hernán Rossi

Dear @Hernan_Rossi ,

I answered your Email directly. It might be that the runtime is assigned to one of your existing subaccounts.

Best regards,
Carolin

Dear Carolin,

Thank you very much for your response.

I have already checked all existing subaccounts within my trial global account, and unfortunately, none of them have the Cloud Foundry Runtime assigned. The option to allocate memory or enable the runtime is not available in any of them.

Could you please verify this from your side and confirm whether the runtime can be re-assigned or re-activated for my account?

Thank you again for your time and support.

Kind regards,
Hernán Rossi

Dear Caroline,

I’ve replied to your email with the full details of my trial account. As shown in the screenshots, there is no quota assigned for Cloud Foundry Runtime.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hello SAP BTP Trial Team,

I recently created a new SAP BTP Trial account for learning purposes, and I noticed that the Cloud Foundry runtime memory allocation is currently unavailable. I came across your recent announcement mentioning that this offering has been temporarily reduced due to system misuse.

As this feature is most needed at this time for my ongoing learning and hands-on practice, could you please let me know the expected timeframe or approximate duration for when this restriction will be lifted? I’d like to plan my study schedule accordingly or explore other SAP resources until this feature becomes available again.

Thank you for your support and for maintaining the platform’s reliability.

Best regards,
Harikrishnan

Good morning Carolin,

Has there been any progress regarding my case?
I am still unable to allocate memory to the Cloud Foundry Runtime, and this situation is causing a delay in my training.

I would really appreciate it if you could review my account again or provide any update on this matter.

Thank you very much for your time and support.

Kind regards,
Hernán Rossi

Hi all,

Any updates when this restriction will be removed again?

I'm using SAP BTP and the SAP Integration Suite in one of my lectures this semester. If I can't setup a fully functional BTP trial in the next week I'll need to search for an alternative solution used by my students.

Why SAP always treats the the trail and learning environments as something nice to have and not really important is beyond me.

Best
Christian

Dear Christian (@ceedee666),

Thank you for reaching out. Integration Suite ist still available on Trial and can be leveraged. You can reach out to our BTP Trial Support Inbox ([email protected]) so we can have a closer look at your curriculum and connect you with SAP University Alliances to find a solution.

I understand you frustration and hope we can find a solution together.

Best regards,
Carolin

Hi Carolin,

the Integration Suite is only part of my lecture. I use it to access a small "erp" system i developed using CAP and deploy to the BTP. With not being able to deploy the erp system the whole lecture setup is not possible anymore.

And one thing is for sure. If I have to move my whole lecture to a new stack now, I'll definitely not going back to the SAP BTP anymore.

Hello,

Are there any updates on this matter? Two weeks have already passed, and there’s still no news about when this restriction will be removed. SAP TechEd is just a few days away next week, and I think this year’s event could be very negatively affected if the restriction is still in place when it starts. 😞

Thank you in advance.

Hi Christian (@ceedee666),

I can understand you frustration. Restricting our services is nothing we do light hearted but a necessary reaction on the severe misuse as described above. If you would like some guidance and discussing alternatives please reach out to the mail mentioned in my first comment. So far I have not received a message.

Best regards,
Carolin

@CarolinBoeke any updates on this matter?

Is there any process we can request or follow for this restriction to be lifted under a certain account? - In addition, I'd suggest learning tracks to be updated to reflect this state, as some quite relevant to BTP development (i.e. build CAP app and deploy to BTP) doesn't work anymore.

Hi @CarolinBoeke ,
I'm new here and I know this is causing deployment problem in cloud foundry environment, but does it also affect deployment on kyma environment ? Please confirm about this, deployment on kyma environment might be a temporary solution for this. Thank you so much.

Hi @CarolinBoeke

May I know if there is any update on the deployment restrictions? Do you anticipate an estimated timeline or approximate date for when this issue will be resolved?

Dear @AjinAndrews1996, thank you for reaching out. I don't expect the issue to be fixed before January unfortunately. The situation requires more effort, than expected so I don't want to and also cannot promise anything and set right expectations.  Please excuse the inconvenience that his may cause.

Hi @CarolinBoeke,

I have created my BTP trial account before Oct 15, and Cloud Foundry was available with 4 GB of space. However for some login issues I had to delete the trial sub-account and as I now recreate the trial sub-account, the Cloud Foundry shows a 0 MB of space. Please advise how this could be fixed?

Thanks,

Dear @nadeem_khan10, You can see how to create a cloud foundry instance in BTP Trial here: https://help.sap.com/docs/cf-runtime/cloud-foundry-runtime/enabling-trial-plan-for-cloud-foundry-run... If this doesn't work, could you please write an email with your BTP Trial global account ID to [email protected]? I can take a look at it.

Best regards,

Carolin
