IDES Example

I can not seem to  get an IDES example up and running for APO Demand Planning.  My main problem is loading data in a planning book (MC94).  I apologize for such a basic question.  Is there a recommeded Planning Book that someone has had great success running statistical models and analyzing results.

Would you recommend DPBOOK00, DP_001, IDES EXAMPLE, IGEN_DP, or another Planning Book.  There should be example data correct?

Having trouble with Selection Profiles as well.  There don't seem to be any preset Selection Profiles for many of the Planning Books.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

Bit confused by the question, you say you want to get APO Demand Planning up and running yet you say Transaction Code MC94 which is the ECC Flexible Planning transaction. Do you want help for APO (Transaction /SAPAPO/SDP94) or ECC (Transaction MC94) ?

Hi Ian,

Thanks for responding.  I apologize I recently worked on a Flexible Planning project. 

I am trying to run statistical models in the Demand Planning module of APO so it is SDP94.  I am able to select a Planning Book / Data View (IGEN_DP)and pull up a Selection Profile of Products, but not able to pull up any history. 

Is this because no history exists.  I thought IDES had sample data?  I've added some data in the manual KF.  This is my very first experience with IDES, but not APO. 

Some users are recommending I create my own planning area and book, but those are already created.  I imagine I could add historical data to the already created PA and book, but this creates additional work that I am not familiar with.

I am having trouble uploading an image to this site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hi Ian,

I received a response for the same question I posted on another thread.  Thought I would run Ada's response by you for any input.  It may clarify my question.

These are the items I am trying to understand. 

I am not expecting the training data, but rather the data of the IDES model company.

Why can't I acces the data in my image above? 

How can I get the data of the IDES model company from one of the clients? 

Can you provide an example regarding "several clients"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi Kevin

Sorry I don't know that much about the IDES system apart from it's the Demonstration and Evaluation system that is freely available (after requesting access). Ada is correct that the data inside is also used for the SAP Training courses and I think the reason why you cannot find the level of data you require is maybe that you have to do the configuration and setup as part of the course the data relates to.

Hi Ian, and other users who have responded to my question. 

I have attached an image.  If I select a Planning Book and a Selection Profile I am asked to initialize a Planning Area.  I don't know which PA corresponds to the Planning Book I have chosen or if I am supposed to initialize 000 Actuals or 001 Active?

Does this help clarify my original question of not having data in any of the KFs?

Hi Ian,

Just wanted to let you know that I was able to figure out the problem with a little help.  Below is the link to the thread I posted.

Part of the problem was that the Planning Area had not been initialized, there isn't historical data for all Planning Areas, and the Product Selection also seemed to be a problem.

You wanted to load data into a planning book and run statistical forecast to analyze planning results?

if it is an IDES server then i recommend you to create your own planning area(/SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN) and planning book(/SAPAPO/SDP8B) with required KF's and load data from cube to planning area by using /SAPAPO/TSCUBE.

You need to create initialize the PA before loading data into PA and Livecache should be in Active.

and create a forecast profile using /SAPAPO/MC96B and run forecast.
