Dear Experts,
I would like to have your help on below issue:
The business requirement is to generate a PI document by exception code during picking. Suppose the picker can only find a partial quantity. He enters the actual quantity and the exception code, and after confirm this, a physical inventory document will be generated automatically.
my customizing is as below:
1. define a custom exception code

2. maintain follow-on action

3. Active workflow as below:

but i did not do the customizing for assign internal exception code to exception code, also did not active the pick denial.
and the test configuration of exception code is as below:

Also I use SWDD to set WS78600032 with background processing.
Based on above setting, i did a test with entering the exception code during confirm picking WO . but the result is no physical inventory document generated.
i checked the workflow, it looks every thing is green without any errors.

can anybody instruct me whether I missed some customizing or made a wrong customizing.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Anyone else looking for an answer: Please make sure the SAP Workflow user has all the authorizations needed via SU53 after triggering the execution of a workflow via e.g. entering an exception code during e.g. putaway or picking.

Hello
I seem to face the same issue. When running in the background it seems to have stuck in the Ready status of the workflow , but when triggered from foreground , it is working smooth and PI document is created.
I havent setup the Task in background processing .Does it have anything to do with that?
What authorization is needed to execute the task in background?
any help?
thanks
Akhil

The issue was solved, just due to authorization missing for the workflow user.
thanks for all your help!

I got a little progress: if I set the workflow run in foreground mode, the PI document can be generated with a tcode SWI1. But still can not generate PI documents in background mode even the workflow status is completed.
so I guess the EWM customizing has no wrong, but the might be something wrong in workflow setting. Is there anyone have some clue about this issue?
thanks!

Hi Juergen,
Thanks a lot for your kind help!
I checked the testing data and relevant customizing. they are all correct. and I did a debug for the operation. the strange thing is the PI document can be generated during debug, just not for foreground operation.
Do you have any comments for this situation?
Thanks again!

Hi,
I tried (first time actually), and it worked fine for me. Did you verify that the bin with the exception is assigned to an activity area for physical inventory and that this AA is assigned to a PI area with the right PI type allowed? Because I do not believe that it works without that.
Brgds
Juergen
