Embedded EWM - Batch Determination

Hi everybody,

I am dealing with this topic "Batch Determination in embedded EWM". I maintained my system and I have the search criteria in SAP EWM, but I have following questions:

1. How can I change/update the search criteria in my outbound delivery (/SCWM/PRDO) in EWM? In ERP it is not possible, because i have subsequent processes available. (image-6.png)

2. Is it possible to found only the batch search criteria in VA01 automatically without to determine a batch? At the moment I need to add it manually for each customer order. (Image 1-4 )

image-1.png; image-2.png;image-3.png;image-4.png

3. For what is my customizing indicator "Selection criteria"? (image-5.png)

Thanks!

Regards

Danny

Hi Daniel,

Some amendments to Juergen's reply:

1. The batch selection criteria cannot be changed on EWM side. They can only be displayed via the button for the selection criteria in /SCWM/PRDO (the screenshot you provided with the pop-up).

3. This indicator is used if you have received batch selection criteria from ERP and you manually enter a batch in /SCWM/PRDO. If you set it to "check", the batch is checked against the selection criteria, otherwise the batch is just accepted during validation and used for picking (override of the batch selection criteria). The indicator itself is not used during the picking process, during stock removal strategies only the batch selection criteria apply if no batch is specified in the PDO item.

"This indicator is used if you have received batch selection criteria from ERP and you manually enter a batch in /SCWM/PRDO."

Wow, thanks for this. That is something I would have never tried and never found out what this setting is for.

I learn something new every day...

Hi Jonas,

thanks for your hint! Yes it works. As soon as I enter a batch in my outbound delivery in /SCWM/PRDO I get a error, because the characteristics are different!

Wow! That was helpful!

Thanks! Regards Daniel

Hi Danny,

It seems you do not have suitable condition record for you material/customer. Because you can see batch selection criteria in EWM. It means it is replicated to EWM but there is no suitable selection criteria. Please see step 5.

Below are some general requirements to determine batch in EWM.

As a general rule: If you determined batch in ERP site, EWM will use it. But if you want batches to be determined in EWM side, you need to make a few configs.

1) You need to set the indicator "Batch Determination in EWM using Batch Attribute Replication" in SPRONext navigation stepLogistics Execution under Next navigation stepSAP EWM Integration Next navigation step Basic Setup of Connectivity Next navigation step Configure SAP EWM-Specific Parameters. (You may need to unmarked--save-then re-marked it again after second step )

2) You need to activated automatic batch determination in sales and distribution for your order item categories and for delivery items categories in SPRO> Logistics - General Next navigation step Batch Management Next navigation step Batch Determination and Batch Check Next navigation step Activate Automatic Batch Determination in SD. This will not determine the batch, if batch determination marked in EWM. It will replicate the selection criteria to EWM.

3) You need to activate batch search strategy for SD. Some relevant steps are below.

- Assign your SalesOrg and sales document type to allocation procedure in SPRO--> Logistics General--> Batch Management --> Batch Determination & Batch Check --> Allocate SD Search procedure (Transaction V/C5)

- Check your Condition Type in SPRO-->Logistics General--> Batch Management --> Batch Determination & Batch Check --> Define SD Search Procedure (Transaction V/C3)

- Check whether 023 class type is assigned to your Condition Type in SPRO--> Logistics General--> Batch Management --> Batch Determination & Batch Check --> Define SD Strategy Types (Transaction V/C1)

- You need to define a batch selection class with "023" class type by using relevant characteristics. You will define your batch selection criteria with these characteristics.

4) Your material needs to be batch managed and assigned to your batch selection class in material master.

5) In transaction VCH1, you need to define your batch selection criteria (condition record) by using one of the condition type used in your Search Procedure. Please see below screen shot as a reference. In my case I defined my selection criteria as remaining self life >= 30 days with sorting expiry date ascending.

I hope it will help to solve your problem.

Hi Tufan,

thank you for the detailed description. I have already set most of the steps you described. Only in one point I disagree for my process. I have read in SAP Docu that step 5 should not be set, because otherwise we will always find a batch already in ERP and it will be automatically transferred to EWM. I wanted to avoid this. I had also first filled the VCH1, but then had the problem that I had then already preassigned a batch in the EWM in the outbound delivery and I wanted to have but only the selection criteria for the batch. My goal is that in the warehouse task creation these criteria are taken into account and a batch is selected accordingly. Therefore, I cannot recommend maintaining the VCH1 if a determination is to take place in EWM. Disadvantage: The selection criteria on ERP side have to be maintained manually in VA01. I find this very unfortunate and have not yet found a way to find only the selection criteria without also finding a batch. Do you have a tip for this?

Hi,

Tufan has described the required steps. The main step Daniel seem to have missed is the flag "Batch determination in EWM using Batch Attribute Replication" in the activation of the warehouse number as EWM warehouse. Because this flag controls the batch determination step in the DELIVERY (only in the delivery, NOT in the sales order).

If the flag is set, then only the batch selection criteria is determined and passed over to EWM. So Daniel either hasn't set the flag, or the batch determination is running in the sales order (which is anyway not a good idea).

Hi,

"1. How can I change/update the search criteria in my outbound delivery (/SCWM/PRDO) in EWM? In ERP it is not possible, because i have subsequent processes available. (image-6.png)"

I don't think it is possible to change the search criteria in the PDO. You either get the required batch criteria from ERP, or you just use EWM picking strategies.

I am not even sure how you get this pop-up there. But maybe that is an embedded EWM thing?

"2. Is it possible to found only the batch search criteria in VA01 automatically without to determine a batch? At the moment I need to add it manually for each customer order. (Image 1-4 )"

In the sales order you can only automatically determine a batch. To determine only batch search criteria automatically is only possible in the delivery.

"3. For what is my customizing indicator "Selection criteria"? (image-5.png)"

No idea... I have never managed to pick a batch which did not have the correct criteria, even if this entry does not exist or is set to "no check".

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!
And if your question includes the word "transfer order" - do NOT tag the question with Extended Warehouse Management!

Hi Tufan,

I checked my entries and I added the VCH1. I have activated the batch determination for sales order item and delivery order item.

Pls check my apporach below:

1. Set my parameter in customizing

2. I create VCH1 - My search criteria should be "EASY"

I defined no sort rule.

3. Create a sales order and has choosen only search criteria

With my entry for VCH1 the search criteria "Easy" was found

image-15.png

For the second question "Copy batch" : I has choosen no!

4. I create the delivery ==> Here is my problem: The system found a batch in the delivery during the creation.

5. I save the delivery and transfer it to EWM ==> Here you can see, that EWM has already a batch no. My expectation would be, that we won't have a batch here. When I click on the "Selection" button, I get the error "No Selection criteria found";

When I delete my VCH1 entries, then I need to fill my selection criteria manually in my sales order, but I get the right result in EWM what I have expected.

Do you have any Idea?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

did you try the process without this: "I have activated the batch determination for sales order item"? And don't do anything in the SO?

Hi Daniel,

If you want to replicate your edited batch search criteria in sales order to EWM.

Just edit selection criteria in sales order>It will ask you whether you want to copy one of the selected batches. Just say NO>It will ask you again whether you want to copy new selection criteria. Just say "YES". Your new selection criteria will be replicated to EWM.

Here is a screenshot as a reference. In below screenshot, I changed remaining shelf life from 30 days to 20 days.screenshot-1.png.
