Hi Team,

We are trying to implement automatic batch determination for Subcontracting Outbound Deliveries created through the Subcontracting Cockpit app in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud.

We have already completed the following configurations:

  • Maintained the required Batch Classes
  • Maintained Batch Search Strategy Records
  • Configured the Condition Tables
  • Maintained the Sort Sequence
  • Assigned the necessary batch determination settings

However, batch determination is still not being triggered automatically in the subcontracting outbound delivery. The system is not proposing any batch even though batch stock is available and the configuration appears to be in place.

Could you please advise on:

  • Any additional configuration required specifically for subcontracting outbound deliveries?
  • Whether batch determination is supported for deliveries created through the Subcontracting Cockpit app in Public Cloud?
  • Any prerequisites or known limitations that need to be considered?

For reference, we have also reviewed the batch determination log, which indicates that no valid search strategy is being found and the available batches do not correspond to the selection criteria.

Your guidance on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Kiran

Good day @kkumara

Thank you for your question

Yes, in Public Cloud automatic batch determination is available for batch managed items in outbound deliveries. Deliveries created from the Subcontracting cockpit use the standard delivery batch determination framework. However, you must activate this function for the actual delivery item category generated in your subcontracting delivery. You need this requirement in the configuration activity of Activate Automatic Batch Determination for Delivery item categories.

See the following reference for more insights.

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_S4HANA_CLOUD/32da8359c8ee4e8b8e8c5e15cacba5aa/55feb753128eb44ce1000000...

The message ‘No valid search strategy found’ normally indicates that your system cannot find a matching strategy record for the determination context. This is not primarily a stock availability error.

Here are steps you should consider:

  • You can create a test delivery from Subcontracting Cockpit and open it in the outbound delivery processing.
  • Ensure you identify the actual item category used for the component item. This is not the same item category used in customer deliveries.
  • In CBC, open Activate Automatic Batch Determination for Delivery Item Categories, and ensure you confirm that the automatic batch determination is activated for the exact item category. The batch determination starts automatically when the delivery item is created or processed.
  • Ensure you check the batch search strategy condition record against the values in the test delivery. Particularly the plant, material, delivery type, validity dates and search procedure.
  • It is important you verify that the section class is a batch class and the available batches are classified with values matching every characteristic used in the strategy. The batch classification is mandatory for batch determination.
  • Make sure you check that the stock is unrestricted and available in the supplying plant and storage location used by delivery.

You should manually run the batch determination once and then open the determination log. If the logs find the strategy but rejects the batches, correct the classification values or selection criteria. If you do not find any strategy despite matching condition records and activation for the correct item category, you should raise an incident with your delivery and log evidence.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Best regards

Chris
