SAP FI certification

Folks,

I have been working in SAP for last five years but in technical domain. For fortunately enough i have spent most of the time in FI/CO module . Since working constantly in this module i have gain considerable amount of knowledge in this area. Now I would like to give certification specifically in FI and I am walking in the dark. Can someone give me answer for this question related to FI certification that would be great.

1. What courses I need to study for FI Certification? I do have most of the material since my colleagues have attended lots of SAP courses but no one appeared for certification.

2. SAP emphasis on which area the most.

3. How many questions asked and how long the exam would be.

4. How difficult it would be for a technical person to complete this exam successfully?

I totally agree with Mr. Ravi Sir and Mr. Paul that, if we are Certified it doesn't mean that we will get the job in SAP. We have to try a lot, as I am the best example where I was in to banking and finance with 10+ years of experience in Recoveries. I got my certification with 88% in FI and thought that I will get a job in SAP and resigned from my current job. But it is not so easy to get a job even you are Certified, most of the companies look for an experienced consultants with 2 -3 Life cycle implementations. Country like Dubai you are very less open to the End-user jobs.

I have only time till 16th Nov to stay in this country and trying all the possible options to move into SAP. But I lost hope and have a feeling that I have to get back into Banking for time being.

As Ravi Sir said if we stick to the basics and understand the concept it is easy to clear the exam. So please stick to your current job and then look for jobs in SAP.

Hi Venkatachalapathy sir,

I am also working in bank. Right now i am a teller in bank. My day to day  work is to collect and  check cash and make a deposit entry in customers a/c. other than that  i make some entries of Fund transfer, neft and rtgs, clearing, cash withdrawal etc. some times i check a/c opening form that's it!           

so basically i am not using any logic in this job, instead of that only managing the volumes. In whole day just making lot of entries. Now a days bank is expecting cross selling from operation staff. so for example if i make 100 entries in very less time with high speed without error and at the end of the day i have to update my sales report also. If sales is zero then senior using abuse words and threaten to sack from job.If some mistake happen in operations then "******" may you understand what i mean.In this job i am neither in operation nor in sales.

The job timing is 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM with 1/2 hr lunch break.there is lot of restriction on me, becoz i am single teller in branch no back up, Holding keys of branch so no unplanned leave. very strict dress code wearing tie, full slaves shirt etc.

I did my graduation in BSC(Computer science) and PG MBA(Finance). I don't have any core experience in accounting.I am in banking sector from last 3 years. Sir my math is also not that much strong. I just want to know that should i go for sap (fi) module. i am not afraid of long hours work and leaves. I just want to do some quality work not only stick to data entry job and sales job.

Dealing with sales is very difficult for me.that's why i explain my detail job profile above.      

Requesting you please suggest me, should i go for sap. is it possible for me to learn sap fi module. how is work life balance in this field. Is sap fi help me to grow i career as well as provide me better life compare to current job profile. What is scope for me to grow in this field, Please help me sir.

Hi Rahul,

As per my understanding you are a banker in teller department and with a target on sales. Today's industry if it is a target oriented job then I can understand how difficult it will be to achieve the desired target's due to vast competition in market.

Coming to choosing the course always our elders say that knowledge is wisdom, so anything that you study will repay you in the future. If you are having a plan to opt for moving in to SAP FICO don't be too nervous whether you will be able to learn the course properly. After your office hours or on week days attend the class with a good reputed institute and spend at least 2_3hour's daily for practising and exploring new things and learn the course. Once the course is finished start looking for jobs at end-user and prepare well for your certification exams. Keep on thing in mind that don't resign the job once you are done with the course. Keep looking for jobs In SAP FICO.

To learn the course of SAP FICO you don't need to be a master mathematics. You just need to have a basic knowledge of accounts and which is not at all difficult. There are few videos and blogs that are available on YouTube and other site's. Please go through it as well.

SAP is one of the best ERP's where most of the companies are preferring and moving into. So don't think that the career won't be good if you study SAP. Just to make it very clear no one is perfect and we all are learning something or the other everyday. Give a shot learn the course and I am sure you will come out with flying colors.

Thanks a lot sir for replying...Its really help me and also gives motivation to do sap.

I inquire in some sap institute which gives me training and after completion of certification they give me internship as well as project. But only condition is that they will pay me only after passing the certification, they also give me very less package as compare to current.  I am ok with less package but only question in my mind is that how difficult certification is? for that i will check some video on you tube as you suggested. After studying the basic and if it is understandable to me, then i will go for sap. while doing this i am planing to leave my current job.

to concentrate on studies.....Can i go with this option sir?

Hi Rahul,

It us good to know that you are interested in doing SAP. As I said there is no hard and fast rule, try to gather the information as much as you can from the website's with regards to the module and the training institute and then proceed further.

As far as I am aware there are jobs for freshers for an entry-level with a less package, but once you gain the experience with thorough knowledge, then you will have a bright future. SAP is an ocean and day by day there are new things that gets added. So you should learn and practice as much as you can, by understanding the basics.

With regards to the course, my personal advice is not to quit your current job. Try to manage with your current job and join the course and struggle for a month or two. After which take a leave for 10-15 days and prepare for your certification and give a shot.

Once you are done with your certification, start looking for job's through the institute which you discussed with and once you have the offer letter then leave the job.

Leaving the job at the moment to join the course, which I don't suggest.
