Build a career in SAP ABAP/JAVA programming.

Hi,

I am a software developer in Ontario, Canada with 5 years combined experience in .NET and Java.  I am also an Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 6 programmer

I want develop a career in SAP ABAP/Java programming. This forum helped me find lot of information and the best way seems to be get a job in a company that has SAP.

So far my efforts have been futile or maybe I am not trying the right way but I still have couple of lingering questions.

If I want to write a certification exam like

SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver 7.02

Or

SAP Certified Development Associate - ABAP with SAP NetWeaver 7.31

Is mandatory or recommended to have prior experience in SAP? If it is recommended them my plan is to take a course in a recognized institute and get certification.

Please let me know if these are not the right certificates I should be looking to obtain.

My second question is, Is the certificate worth/considered when applying for SAP developer Jobs?

If this a re post then kindly guide me to an appropriate link or resources.

Hello Kiran,

                        The answers are:-

1.  it is not mandatory that you have prior experience in sap for abap module.Any fresher graduates can also apply for certification exam also.

2.IF you have to do abap certification then you are fresher in abap( though you have lot of experience in other technology ) .From my point view this certification worth .becoz you got interview calls on the basis of certification + your prior experience in programming.so you have always added advantages than others.

  3.   this link  https://training.sap.com/in/en/  helps you to choose you better course version in abap. choose latest version in abap so that will be Enhance your career in sap abap.
