Preparation for Project Dream has finally begun! Students at Delaware State University have been hard at work since the ladder part of March. Starting with the Mini Viz, which was an in-house competition for students to display their skills and knowledge of SAP Lumira and Predictive Analytics. The Mini-Viz was a very competitive competition and there was no time to waste; once questions were selected, each group had a set time to manipulate their data, create a story and present it to the audience. This competition allowed students to put their knowledge and skills to the test, using what they learned during the previous Big Data and Predictive Analytics workshops. The Mini-Viz was only the beginning, in preparation for the Graduate Symposium.
The 6th Annual Graduate Symposium allowed both undergraduate and graduate students to present their presentations during their Graduate Studies Research Competition. This competition gave students the opportunity to expand their knowledge and use their skills while manipulating Big Data and creating a story; using the past, present, and future information provided on the Presidential Elections. Teams were able to dive deep into the data and determine the different trends of the Presidential Elections from multiple stand points; such as, the 1965 Voting Rights Act, demographics, age, gender and income to name a few. The purpose of this competition was to find creative ways to reach out and relate to millennials in order to get them more involved and vote in the 2016 Presidential Election.
Delaware State University teams are now in place and are working diligently toward Project Dream: Election 2016.
