in spro under settings for value assignment

we see two different options

a. create entries for the value assignments

b . Set up table based value assignment

What are the uses of these two configuration . This is sometimes confusing to know why we need to do this and when .

Use:

From SAP's IMG Documentation for this activity:

Proceed as follows to create the necessary entries:

1. Choose Create Entries for the Value Assignments

and create table entries for all existing value assignment types.

2. Choose Set Up Table-Based Value Assignment

and check the entries created. Change these if necessary.

For more information, see the documentation for the program RC1TCG11_02.

So in other words:

Use option 1.)  to create entries in this customizing table

Use option 2.) to review these entries and adjust and change them as needed

Why

This table defines the layout of the table based value assignment (that is the tab called "Value Assignment") in CG02 .

Every field / column you see there is defined in this table. What is not in this table will not get displayed.

When:

Every time you make a change to one of your 'Z' value assignment types (For Example adding a characteristics to a class), or you install a new property tree with new or changed values assignment types from SAP you need to do this.
Or you want a specific layout for a certain or all properties.

Hope this helps
