ECTR .Net Database access

Hello,

I am completely new the SAP and ECTR platform. My company is planning to move to ECTR from PDM. In PDM, I am able to access root path of the file very easily while its not that easy with ECTR. I was wondering if there is a way to access root path (not the one from appdata) and basic data of the file in .NET, are there any tutorials for beginners that sort of demonstrate this?

I already have ECTR installed on my computer, as noted in tutorial for installing SAP HANA plugin in visual studio, do I have to download SAP Hana express edition on my computer?

Thank you for your time.

Hello Mangesh,

what system do you mean with "PDM"? PDM is more a type of application than a product name. I'm interpreting it as an abbreviation for Product Data Management.

What do you mean with "root path" and "basic data"? ECTR consists of a ABAP backend component and a JAVA frontend component. Backend-wise you can use any ABAP program to get "meta data" (details of the Document Info Record). Frontend-wise you can use a API toolkit to integrate you local CAD application via ECTR with the SAP backend, see https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/PLM/SAP+ECTR+Connector+-+API+Documentation.

Hope this helps.
