DG Exceptions in ECC

Hi,

My question is almost two-fold. Firstly, we are using ECC currently and have a product that has DG exceptions under certain packaging. Currently our specification has all packaging types assigned under the Material Assignments, with one DG inheritance that applies to the specification as a Dangerous Goods across the board for the determined regulations. The packages with the exceptions have a material assignment on a separate DG_CL_SUB with the nuances. However, when customers are receiving SDSs via SDS Distribution, section 14 is not showing correctly. Is this because material assignments are assigned in multiple places? How can DG exceptions be managed?

Furthermore, how do we manage this moving forwards in S/4 HANA and also in the not-so-distance future of PC New?

As the product compliacne has a ttoal different design: you should do read of e.g. help.sap.com and many other still exsiting either blogs or leraning lectures shaared by SAP

But the answer is clear: There is a solution in place for Product Compliance. ut the concet how to do the job is different

please answer these questions:

a.) do you use 3E content?

b.) Do you use GLM WWI reports? and print DG exemptions there?

c.) Please check help.sap.com ; there is an example for chapter 14 logic (for Safety Data Sheet)

But yes you are right: DG exemptions are normally ignored in chapter 14; but not ignored in GLM part (label content)

So yes: SAP is delivering something; but more related to Label content

Hi. Yes we use 3E ERC Content and WWI reports. The trouble is our DG is customised due to the exceptions but has recently stopped working. I am trying to revert back to SAP Standard and not sure how to get the DG exceptions to work. The only way I can think of is having two specifications; one having the DG regulated material assignments, and the other with the exceptions - all other data remaining the same.

Hello... as mentioned: in 3E template (best knowledge): exemptions are not supported on detail level in SDS. For SDS: this is normally accepted: but not for label generation; but 3E does not deliver 3E WWI template. So this is always what you have to do by your own.

How do you now try to go back to SAP Standard?

It is no longer working as when we create Safety Data Sheets, the exceptions are correctly showing in the DG master and the SDS itself. However, once sent by SDS Distribution, the customer is getting something completely different. They then notify us and we send the correct document. As there is no historical knowledge in the business currently on how this was originally set up and customised, we have failed at troubleshooting and I have been advising to create one specification for the bulk material with the correct DG. And a separate specification for the packaged materials with the exemptions. Therefore the system cannot get confused where material assignments are mixed up with other data and assigned to multiple sources. Some of our products fall under UN1866 PG III. However, when the material is < 25kg and is neither Skin Corrosive nor Acutely Toxic, we can apply the exemption under ADR/ADN/RID (Viscous Liquids 2.2.3.1.5).

Hello you need to pay attention with your solutions. Many company fails in doing like you are doing (I skip the details; but i would assume you might get different problems)

But as long as you believe anything is fine...

If customer comes back to you and is saying: he/she has received the wrong SDS document: Could you find the probem in CVD1?

But not knowing the details o your set up it is not possible to help
