For Nwankwo Chinonso—known to colleagues as Charles—every step in his career has been shaped by resilience, a hunger for learning, and a knack for recognizing the right opportunities. Raised in southeastern Nigeria as the third of four siblings, Charles developed a deep curiosity for technology early on. After earning a degree in Computer Engineering, he moved to Lagos in 2019, driven by a clear goal: to build a meaningful career in IT. Despite his solid foundation in IT support—specializing in troubleshooting and software upgrades—breaking into the right role wasn’t easy. He often found himself praying for an opportunity that would not only match his skills but also fuel his passion for innovation.
Finding the Right Path
The program—still thriving today—offers recent graduates in Nigeria the opportunity to develop skills in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), analytics, and business process transformation. Intrigued by the reach and impact of SAP, Charles applied and was thrilled to be selected as one of just 27 candidates. “The rest, as they say, is history,” he says with a smile.
What followed was a transformative period of intensive learning, practical application, and personal growth, culminating in four SAP Certifications with a specialization in SAP S/4HANA. But for Charles, learning has never been about just collecting credentials. He describes the experience as both rewarding and life-changing—one that equipped him with the critical technical expertise and soft skills needed to thrive in today’s corporate world.

Since then, Charles has carved out an impressive career as a Senior SAP Consultant, guiding manufacturing and other enterprises through complex digital transformations with SAP solutions. His journey with SAP has not only accelerated his professional growth but also opened doors to financial stability, global travel, and a wealth of invaluable industry experience.
For Charles, the rewards have extended far beyond the workplace—shaping both his career and his worldview. “My SAP Certifications have significantly enhanced my communication abilities, interpersonal relationships, leadership qualities, problem-solving skills, and business acumen, including decision-making.” Charles is now leading a movement called ‘SAP saturdays’, designed to equip students with SAP skills for both today and tomorrow."
