Difference between 'Link Goal' and 'Cascade Goal'

Hi all,

I gave permissions for linking goals as per the latest release article.

But I do not understand the difference between cascading and linking goals. Both of them shows on goal alignment chart, which can further confuse the users. There is no option to differentiate between the two. Also, after all the configurations as mentioned in the article, we are not able to 'unalign' the goal.

I want to understand the difference between the 'align'/'link' and cascading of goals.

Let me know in the comments section.

Regards,

Arunima

Is it useful for dynamic teams?

I'll try to explain the difference as I understand (you may already know the features but hope this helps)

1. Cascade goals: Pushing goals from higher levels of the org. to lower levels. Goals can be broken down into smaller, more specific goals for direct reports.

2. Align Goals: Aligning goals involves linking individual or team goals to the broader organizational goals without necessarily breaking them down. It creates a connection or alignment between different levels of goals. This is generally used where all goals are moving in the same direction and supports the overall org. strategy. Employee's can link their goals (e.g., Improve customer communication) to company's goal of Customer Engagement

3. Link Goals: Linking goals feels very similar to Align goals but this creates a visible connection btween goals across departments and/or teams. If Team A's goal is to Decrease spend, then it can be linked to Team B's goal of Effective Marketing. So this option helps in understanding the interrelated goals.

Hi all,

I understood the major difference between 'Link goals' and 'cascade goals'.

If a manager or someone cascade a goal to an employee, the required goal gets copied on the goal plan of that employee and vice-versa for 'Cascade to me'. The exact copied goal appears on the goal plan.

In the 'Link goal', the goal does not appear on the goal plan. When you link goal 'A' from employee A with employee B's goal B, then when you open the goal B, you can find the goal A. It does not appear explicitly on the goal plan of employee B.
