The SAP SuccessFactors 2H 2024 release has introduced a range of new features and improvements to elevate the learning experience. Here’s an overview of the highlights you need to know.

Note: Some upgrades are currently under investigation by the SAP Learning Engineering team.

1. Approvals for Learning Requests: A Streamlined Experience

Managers, instructors, and HRBPs now have a streamlined way to approve or decline learning requests directly from the new Learning home page. This feature lets approvers manage internal and external training requests, user account requests, and course completions (with or without e-signatures) in one place. With the “Requests for Me” section, you can prioritize and manage approvals seamlessly, ensuring that important requests are promptly addressed.

2. Automatic Import of Open Content Network (OCN) Items

To reduce the administrative burden, SAP SuccessFactors Learning now supports automatic import of learning content from OCN providers. With a few configuration changes, admins can set up a process to import new OCN courses automatically, keeping content fresh and eliminating the need for manual updates. This is a great addition for organizations that rely on OCN providers for diverse learning content.

3. Enhanced Library Browsing with the Browse Library Feature

SAP has enhanced search functionality by adding the Browse Library feature. Learners can now filter library search results by categories, making it easier to find relevant learning activities. This update simplifies navigation and helps learners quickly access the resources they need to enhance their skills.

Note: While testing on my instance, this isnt working. SAP has marked as known issue and is under investigation by SAP engineering team.

4. Creating Custom Pages on the New Learning Home Page

You can now create custom pages on the Learning home page, tailored to specific groups within your organization. These pages can include up to five banners and eight cards per section. With this feature, you can customize learning content, create a unique experience for different user groups, and help learners easily find relevant learning activities.

Note: This took a while to reflect on home page.

5. Changes to Permission for Creating Custom Content in Learning Administration

To create and manage custom content, such as banners, custom cards, and custom pages, in the Learning Administration tool, the new "Manage Custom Experience" permission is now required. You can enable this permission by navigating to System Administration > Security > Role Management.

Please remember, If the Edit System Configuration permission is already enabled for a role, the Manage Custom Experience permission is automatically enabled. No additional action is required. The enhancement is from the customer community to provide a more granular permission model for creating custom content for learners, accessible on the new Learning home page.

6. Disable Option For The New Learning Experience Removed

SAP has removed the option to disable to New Learning Experience to progress towards the deprecation of the legacy experience in a future release.

7. New Team View for SuccessFactors Learning

If you’re using the new Learning home page, you can now access the updated Team View page to manage and review learning assignments for your team. To open the Team View page, simply go to the Dashboards menu on the Learning home page and select Team View. Your team members will appear in a list on the left side of the page.

By selecting a team member, you’ll see their detailed learning information in the right-hand detail view. If you have permissions to view team members as an alternate manager or HR business partner, a drop-down menu will appear next to the My Team header, allowing you to choose the appropriate role. Team members are listed alphabetically, with those who have overdue items shown first. The More Actions menu offers the following options for managing your team members:

  • Manage Assignments
  • Add to Learning History
  • Manage Enrollment

You can also explore individual learning details for each team member and take specific actions as needed.

8. Use AI to Associate Skills With Open Content Network Items

Its AI everywhere, you can use the AI-assisted capabilities to associate skills with Open Content Network (OCN) items based on the predefined skills provided by the OCN providers.

9. Learning History Page Updates

Based on user feedback, SAP SuccessFactors has made the Learning History page cleaner by removing columns that weren’t widely used, such as Type and Ratings. Credit hours are now available only in the Completed Activity Details section, making the page more focused and easier to navigate.

10. The New Learning Home Page Now Supports Delegation Tasks

The delegate user can now switch their role temporarily to act as their manager directly on the new Learning home page. When managers or supervisors (delegator) assign another user (delegate) to act on their behalf under certain requirements.

Thank you for the helpful summary of the updates.

However, the new team view of the manager is presenting a serious error. When the manager views the history of a team member and then clicks on the 'Print Certificate' button for any course, the certificate is coming with the manager's name instead of the employee's name.

What is the most appropriate place for me to report this issue?

Regards,
Charles

Thanks for this great overview!
One question: The category color and banner aren't working yet, right?

For the Automatic import of OCN items, is there a way to auto import only English titles vs All?

Currently, when we manually import our LinkedIn Learning OCN items, in the Course Description field, we filter items with a "." to get the English courses and then add import those to Learning.  Thanks.
