What Is SRef : material type while creating the material type?

While learning about Material type creation, I came across the field " SRef : Material type". What is this used for?

I have already learnt about Field reference where we make it optional, mandatory or display. But I did not understand " SRef : Material type" .

The "SRef : material type" field is used to define material type dependent screen sequences of MM01 MM02 MM03 in the configuration path: Logistics - General -> Material Master -> Configuring the Material Master -> Assign Screen Sequences to User/Material Type/Transaction/Industry Sector:
