T-code ABF1

Hello All,

T-code ABF1 allows you to make a manual journal entry using reconciliation accounts. It appears that this is an obsolete t-code(although I did get it to work). The problem with it is that the Asset field has a * and is greyed out so you cannot change it. We have an issue from the original inventory load from FY 2006 and would like to move the dollars from one recon account to another. Since the asset field does not allow for an individual asset number to be entered we have to do it as a lump sum. I was hoping to find a newer fersion of this t-code so that we could handle individual asset values with this adjustment.

Is anyone aware of a newer t-code that works similar to ABF1?

Thanks,

Dan

Hi,

Can you please go to SPRO-Financial Accounting-Asset Accounting-Asset Accounting-Production Startup-Set or Reset Reconciliation Accounts and read the help text. This explains exactly your scenario. I am not sure why you want to post a rectification entry by individual assets instead of a lump sum, but assuming you want to, the following steps might work. Please check once in quality as I have never tried it before.

a. Ensure no posting is done in Asset Accounting by anyone else

b. Set the asset accounting status as test status. SPRO-Financial Accounting-Asset Accounting-Asset Accounting-Production Startup-Company Code Status

c. Reset asset recon account.SPRO-Financial Accounting-Asset Accounting-Asset Accounting-Production Startup-Set or Reset Reconciliation Accounts

d. Pass the rectification entries you want to pass

e. Set the asset recon account.SPRO-Financial Accounting-Asset Accounting-Asset Accounting-Production Startup-Set or Reset Reconciliation Accounts

First of all thanks for your reply, I will look into your directions.

The reason we wanted to enter each asset amount individually so that when those assets are retired the amount of that asset would be pulled out of the grand total. I could be misunderstanding how this all works but don't we need the value of each individual asset when we dispose of it? Or will that be aquired in some other fashion?

Hi,

But is not the problem with the recon accounts only and not the assets as such? I was under the impression that your asset values were correct but the problem was that the incorrect recon account was debited at the time of golive and you want to correct it. So your objective is to only transfer the balance from the incorrect recon accouint to the correct recon account. The asset values are correct and retirement will only refer to the asset account's balance and not the recon account's balance.

But in case you want to correct the asset balances also then the simplest solution would be to debit/credit the assets for the difference in F-90.
