Hi,

could any one please tell me regarding subtypes?

what is subtype of infotype?where we can give these sub types while hiring the person?

You define subtypes in Table T591A. Inorder to have different screen for different subtypes within an infotype you would need to custom develop it

If I can just tag my own question to this discussion...

I've created a custom infotype with several subtypes, and now I want to alter the time constraints of these subtypes. I've found that there are SAP tables for regular infotypes that allow you to alter the time constraint of the subtype (i.e. table VV_T591A_0006___AL0 allows you to edit the time contraints of the subtypes of infotype 0006), but how do I create such a table for my custom infotype?

You can change the time constraint using Customising:

Personnel Management/Organisational Management/Basic Settings/Data Model Enhancements/Infotype Maintenance/Maintain sub-types.

Subtypes are used to subdivide info type data records. For example in the address info type (0006), you can store different types of addresses.

Permanent residence (subtype 1)

Temporary residence (subtype 2)

Home address (subtype 3)

In Human resources, Individual information such as last name, first name and date of birth, is defined in data fields.

Data fields are grouped into data groups or information units according to their contents.

These information units are called as information types or infotype in short.

HR data is therefore stored in groups that logically belong together according

to content. For example, place of residence, street, and house number make up

an employee’s address and are consequently stored (together with additional

data) in the Addresses infotype.

Infotypes have names and 4-digit keys. The Addresses infotype, for example,

has the key 0006.

Infosubtypes, or subtypes for short, subdivide an infotype's data records.

You may want to subdivide such information to make it easier to manage or

because you want to assign different control features (such as time constraints)

to the various subtypes of an infotype. You can also create separate histories

for each subtype.

Example: in the Family Member/Dependents (0021) infotype, you enter

different family members in the subtypes:

- Spouse (subtype 1)

- Child(subtype2)

or in Address (0006) infotype differnt addresses

- Permanent

- Temporary

- Emergency address

- Mailing address

Hi Prabha,

Subtypes are sub division of Infotypes.

Ex: IT 0021-Family Members and Dependents. Sub Type 1- Spouse

IT 0021-Family Members and Dependents. Sub Type 2- Child

During Personnel Action if you want to include only certain Subtype of an Infotype you can do it while defining the Infogroup for your Personnel Action.

Hi Prabha,

Subtypes of Infotypes are the further classification, ie. in case of Addresse, you have Permanenet Address,

Temporary residence, Mailing Address etc etc, so all these are subtype of Address(0006) infotype.

ie. Family Members/Dependents(0021) has subtypes Spouse (01) Child(02) etc.

Based on your PA settings, you get it with your IT during your Hiring action.
